According to the article “Sins of the Secular Missionaries”, published in The Economist in January 2000, it is estimated there are about 2 million NGOs in the US; today, this number should be higher, but there are no recent statistics on the subject. Another article published in The New York Times in July 1999, by David Bornstein, affirms that 70% of all NGOs in the US were created after the 1970s.
