How many mutations are there per generation?

30-50 new DNA mutations per generation

Studies show that there are 30-50 new DNA mutations per generation.  Keep in mind the fact that the mutations can come from mom or dad.  The main idea is that neither mom nor dad contributes more.  At the beginning, scientists have assumed that dads would be the main contributors with new mutations.  This is false.  Keep in mind the fact that DNA has to be copied each time a new cell is made.  This is extremely interesting.  Needless to say, mutations are responsible for all of the wonderful diversity.
