How many lions are there in Africa?

32000

It is important to know that according to the African Lion Working Group, there are between approximately 32000 lions in Africa.  Statistics do not look too good at all.  Believe it or not, in 1960s there were approximately 100000 lions in Africa.  Needless to say, lion populations in West and central Africa are the most acutely threatened.  Unfortunately, more and more lions that make their home in the savannahs are killed.  Biologists say that lions in West Africa are at highest level of risk.
