The Titanic Inquiry Project reports that Titanic carried 20 lifeboats: 14 wooden boats, each one with a capacity to carry 65 persons; 2 wooden cutters, each one being able to carry 40 persons, and 4 collapsible boats with a 47-person capacity. Altogether, the 20 lifeboats were built to carry 1,178 people, which represented about 53% of the on-board population (a total of 2,201 people).
