How many LGBT people are there in the US?
There are no precise statistics on the LGBT population in America, since the US Census doesn’â„¢t have questions about sexual orientation. The only information provided by the US Census Bureau on the subject is that, by 2005, there were 776,943 households with same-sex couples. Nevertheless, the study «Sexual Behavior and Selected Health Measures: Men and Women 15’“44 Years of Age, United States» updated in 2005 by the National Survey of Family Growth, reports that 4.1% of the American population aged between 18 and 44 years declares to be either homosexual or bisexual. Considering the current US population, it means that the LGBT population equals about 12.7 million people.
