It depends on the length of the pool
Not too many people know that the correct definition of a “lap†is two lengths of the pool: down and back. It is important to know that in practice, it is far more common for people to say “laps,†and mean “lengths. The number of laps in a mile varies on the length of the pool. For example, to swim 1650 yards or meters in a measuring 25 yards or meters, you would need to do 66 laps. On the contrary, in a pool measuring 50 yards or meters you would need to do 33 laps.
