Before the Yiti Zidian Chinese dictionary was published in 2004, the total amount of Kanji characters was thought to be about 50,000. However, this dictionary contains over 100,000 Kanji characters, including secluded variants. In spite of Kanji’â„¢s vast character range, only 2,000 to 3,000 of them take part in Japan’â„¢s everyday lexicon.
