How many English speaking countries are there?

60 sovereign states and 28 non-sovereign entities

It is important to know the fact that in 2012, there were 60 sovereign states and 28 non-sovereign entities where English was an official language.  This is definitely something.  The main idea is that the majority of countries where English is an official language are former territories of the British Empire.  Here are some countries where English is an official language: Bahamas, Belize, Barbados, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Malta, Marshall Islands, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Seychelles, Nigeria, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Canada, Cameroon, Fiji, Malawi, etc.
