How many emotions are there?

6 basic emotions

It is impossible to provide an exact answer to this question.  Anyway, specialists consider there are six basic emotions: anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise.  Keep in mind that these basic emotions are universally recognized.  Paul Ekman considered that emotions are discrete, measurable, and physiologically distinct.  Believe it or not, Paul Ekman discoveredthat the human face is capable of creating more than7,000 different facial expressions.  Many cultures sustain this theory.  It is extremely interesting to know that primary emotions could blend to form the full spectrum of human emotional experience.
