As per the statistics given by the centurycouncil.org page on the number of drunk driving deaths in the year 2009, the number of people that died due to drunk driving was 10,759. From 1991 till 2010, the rate of deaths due to drunk driving for every 100,000 people reduced by 48 percent at the national level. This data is also confirmed by the U.S. Census Bureau in its 2011 report.
