How many dovetails are there?
5 types
Not too many people know that a dovetail joint or simply dovetail is a joint technique most commonly used in woodworking joinery including furniture, cabinets, log buildings and traditional timber framing. It is extremely interesting to know that there are five types of dovetails: through dovetail, half-blind dovetail, secret mitred dovetail, sliding dovetail and full blind dovetail. Keep in mind that the dovetail joint is commonly used to join the sides of a drawer to the front. Not too many people know that the Europeans call the dovetail joint a swallow-tail joint or a fantail joint.
