How many dolphins are there in the world?

At least 40 species

It is widely known the fact that dolphins are marine mammals closely related to whales and porpoises.  Keep in mind that dolphins are found worldwide, mostly in the shallower seas of the continental shelves and are carnivores, eating mostly fish and squid.  It is important to know that there are 41 species of dolphins of the family Delphinade or oceanic dolphins: Long-Beaked Common Dolphin, Delphinus capensis, Short-Beaked, Common Dolphin, Delphinus delphis, Bottlenose Dolphin, Tursiops truncates, Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin, Tursiops aduncus, etc.
