How many cuts are there in a film?
According to Wikipedia, there are several editing stages and the editor’s cut is the first. In fact, there are 3 main cuts: the editor’s cut, the director’s cut and the final cut. Keep in mind that the editor’s cut might be longer than the final film. This signifies that the editor continues to refine the cut while shooting obviously continues. Needless to say, sometimes the editing process goes on for many months and even for more than a year. “Director’s cut” refers to the moment when the director and the editor go over the entire movie. Many scenes are re-ordered.
