How many calories should I eat?

It depends on your height, weight and level of activity.

An accurate way to measure the recommended daily calorie intake would be to use the Harris-Benedict equation, which requires a person’â„¢s gender, weight, height, and age. The formula for daily caloric requirement is as follows:

Little or no exercise = BMR x 1.2
Light exercise (1-3 days/week) = BMR x 1.375
Moderate exercise (3-5 days/week) = BMR x 1.55
Heavy exercise (6-7 days/week) = BMR x 1.725
Very heavy exercise (heavy workout 2x/day, daily) = BMR x 1.9

The BMR is calculated using the following formula:

For men = 66 + (6.23 x weight in lbs) + (12.7 x height in inches) – ( 6.76 x age in yrs)
For women = 655 + (4.35 x weight in lbs) + (4.7 x height in inches) – ( 4.7 x age in yrs )
