Number of Bytes in a Word

How many bytes are there in a word?

The same as the number of letters in the word.

A word has the same number of bytes as it has letters. This is the case for at least all English words written without special characters. This is because most text codes (specifically ASCII, OEM, ANSI and UTF-8) treat a character of text as exactly one byte. Non-English text coded in UTF-8, however, may consist of between 2 to 6 bytes.
