It is impossible to count every book that has ever been written.  There is not a precise answer to this question.  Anyway, according to Google’s advanced algorithms, almost 130 million books, 129864880 books, to be exact, have been written.  Keep in mind that we have to exclude important non-books such as microforms (8 million), audio recordings (4.5 million), videos (2 million), maps (another 2 million), t-shirts with ISBNs (about one thousand).  Google’s book project represents an interesting and ambitious project.  Its main purpose is to digitize the number of books from the world.
