How many Baptist churches are there in America?

It is widely known the fact that Baptists are the largest Protestant grouping in the United States of America.  Needless to say, Baptist churches exist in each of the United States of America these days. Believe it or not, more than 70% of all Baptists worldwide reside in the United States.  The exact number of Baptist churches in the United States of America is not known.  Keep in mind the fact that Baptists have traditionally organized into associations of like-minded churches for mutual edification, consultation, and ministerial support.
