How many baby boomers were there in 2011?

13% of the US population

Not too many people know that the first baby boomers turned 65 in 2011.  Keep in mind that in 2011, 13% of the U.S. population is age 65 or older.  Did you know that the U.S. life expectancy at birth is 77.9 years (75.4 for men and 80.4 for women)?  The main idea is that when a person makes it to 65, their life expectancy improves to 83.6 years (82.2 for men and 84.9 for women).   Needless to say, it gets even better at age 75.   For instance, those who make it to 75 have a life expectancy of 86.7 (85.6 for men and 87.5 for women).
