There are between 20 to 30 axillary lymph nodes in the human body. Axillary lymph nodes are responsible for draining immune cell-containing lymph from the upper limbs, chest, trunk, and lower neck. The axillary lymph nodes are further subdivided into five groups ‘â€œ the lateral or brachial, anterior or pectoral, posterior or subscapular, central, and medial/subclavicular/apical axillary lymph nodes.
