There are more than 36,000 assisted living facilities all over the United States. This is according to the Assisted Living Federation of America in 2009. More than 1 million senior citizens are served by these assisted living facilities. A 2005 study published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine estimated that these facilities generate income of about $15 billion annually.
