How many arthropod species are there?

It is important to know that there are approximately 1170000 arthropod species.  Believe it or not, they represent approximately 80% of all known living animal species.  There are so many arthropod species to be described.  Keep in mind the fact that Arthropods are important members of marine, freshwater, land and air ecosystems.  It is interesting to know the fact that they are one of only two major animal groups that have adapted to life in dry environments.  Arthropods include the insects, arachnids, and crustaceans.
