How many army officers are there by rank?

It depends by rank

Most servicemen agree the US military has too many generals and admirals, collectively referred to as “flag officers”.  Statistics show that in 2009 there were 12 Generals (Admirals), 53 Lt Generals (Vice Admirals), 91 Rear Admirals, 152 Brig Generals.  Needless to say, the total active manpower in the army in 2009 was of 549153.  There were 331.768 men in the navy.  Furthermore, there were 201.031 in the Marine Corps.  Keep in mind that there were 1107 men in Air Force.
