How many ankle bones are there?
The ankle includes three joints: the ankle joint proper or talocrural joint, the subtalar joint, and the Inferior tibio fibular joint. Needlessto say, the main bones of the ankle region are the talus (in the foot), and the tibia and fibula (in the leg). The ankle bone is also a name for talus. It is interesting to know the fact that the surface of the tibia is referred to as the plafond. Keep in mind that the movements produced in this region are dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the foot.
