Not too many people know the fact that angioplasty is the technique of mechanically widening narrowed or obstructed arteries.  Keep in mind that obstructed arteries represent the direct result of atherosclerosis.  There are many types of angioplasty procedures: peripheral angioplasty, coronary angioplasty, renal artery angioplasty, carotid angioplasty, cerebral arteries angioplasty.  It is interesting to know the fact that after angioplasty, most of the patients are monitored overnight in the hospital.  In case there are no complications, the next day, patients are sent home.
