Aldi represents a global discount supermarket chain based in Germany which also operates internationally.  Not too many people know that the chain is made of two separate groups, Aldi Nord and Aldi South.  Keep in mind that Aldi Nord operates in Denmark, France, the Benelux countries, the Iberian peninsula, and Poland, while Aldi Süd operates in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Switzerland, Australia, Austria, and Slovenia.  In UK there are 421 Aldi stores.   The first Aldi store was opened in UK in 1989.
