How many aging inmates are there?

The number of prisoners age 65 or older grew at 94 times the rate of the overall prison population

It is important to know that aging men and women are the most rapidly growing group in US prisons.   Statistics do not show too good.  Imagine that the number of sentenced state and federal prisoners age 65 or older grew at 94 times the rate of the overall prison population between 2007 and 2010.   Needless to say, the number of sentenced prisoners age 55 or older grew at six times the rate of the overall prison population between 1995 and 2010.  The main idea is that prison officials are hard-pressed to provide these prisoners appropriate housing and medical care.
