How many taste buds are there on average?

It is interesting to know the fact that the average human has about 3000 taste buds.  In fact, there are between 2000 and 5000 taste buds.  Keep in mind that they are not all on the tongue.  The main idea is that some of them are under the tongue while the others are on the inside of the cheeks.  Believe it or not, many taste buds are on the roof of the mouth.   It is important to know that some can even be found on the lips.
