Fact 1 What Is Milk Or Conventional Milk

We are all used to drinking milk of various types of animals mostly cows from times unknown. During the early times, there were practically no such things as pesticides or hormone boosters. All cows grazed on green pasture lands and the milk produced was always safe and nutritious. Nowadays there are different types of milk available even at the stores that vary according to their fat levels, flavors, while some are lactose-free. It must be admitted that milk is an irreplaceable drink. It is the storehouse of innumerable nutrients that are not available in any other drinks.

Fact 2 What Is Organic Milk

With the advancement of science and technology, there has been great improvements in the methods of farming and raising livestock. The term “organic” is related to “bio” and “eco” which indicate that the products marked as “organic” are under the control of food authorities. Hence organic milk is that produce which is available from animals which are reared according to organic farming systems. Accordingly, these animals are fed on fodder that is organically certified, allowed to graze and are free from drugs.

Fact 3 Difference Between Milk And Organic Milk

It is really difficult to ascertain the difference between milk or conventional milk and organic milk. Dairy farmers naturally take care of their livestock and feed them with the best quality fodder and treat them humanely. Drugs and other growth hormones are not used in animals that produce such an important food. Both types of milk are rich in exclusive nutrients that include calcium, potassium and vitamin D and is a rich source of protein for vegetarians. Hence there are actually very few differences between the two types of milk namely milk and organic milk.

Some of the differences are:

  1. Researchers say that in many parts of the world, where conventional methods of dairy farming is practiced, the cows are fed with high levels of grains so that the produce increases in volumes and fertilizers are also being used for more greenery. In contrast, in organic dairying, forage feeding and pasture are kept within control and lesser amounts of fertilizers are used. Hence the composition of milk appears to vary between the two types of milk.
  2. Milk obtained from conventional grass-fed cows are found to have lesser amount of Omega3 fatty acids as compared to organic milk. This is because the cows that are given only organic feed and no other poultry by-products, etc., and are never treated with growth hormones or anti-biotics are healthier. This factor also depends on the season and grazing lands.
  3. The third difference that is notable is that the price of organic milk is higher as compared to milk. People are of the opinion that the extra costs are due to the extra costs incurred by the farmers to maintain high levels of restrictions regarding their feed and care.

However, it cannot be denied that both milk and organic milk are today excellent choices that have no alternatives. Farmers are using new technologies that are approved by the FDA and maintain the guidelines set by the authorities. Hence Milk and organic milk are both free of anti-biotics, pesticides, and growth hormones. They are pasteurized and contain all kinds of essential elements like calcium, vitamin, etc., and are nutrient-dense.
