It’s every teenager’s worst nightmare and no one is safe. Acne has been traumatizing and ruining pictures and night outs for centuries. Acne is characterized as being the occurrence of inflamed or infected oil glands in our skin, which often results in hideous red pimples, oily skin, and blackheads. Luckily, beauty experts have discovered its Kryptonite, and we have just the tips to help you achieve beautiful skin too. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
Fact 1: Stay away from all that oily junk food! Too much oil in our bodies, aside from being unhealthy, can create a hormone imbalance within our bodies. This in turn affects the health of our skin too, which takes the blow from our unhealthy diet. Excess oil clogs our pores and causes breakouts. A balanced diet with regular exercise keeps our skin clear and our acne at bay.
Fact 2: This tip may be the simplest one on the list but might be the hardest one to follow. When acne starts to appear on your skin, don’t touch it! Touching your acne will only make it worse. We wouldn’t want to bring the bacteria that are on our fingers onto the acne and make it worse. And we certainly don’t want to spread those bacteria around. DO NOT TOUCH.
Fact 3: Exfoliate at least twice a week, if not thrice. Exfoliating is great for the skin as it promotes new skin cell turn over and gets rid of all the deep seated dirt and dead skin cells. It also does wonders for our clogged pores thanks to the granules in the scrub. Facial scrubs enriched with Salicylic acid or Activated Charcoal are ideal.
Fact 4: Wash your face twice a day! Follow a strict regimen of wash, tone, moisturize in the morning when you wake up and in the evening before you go to bed. You’ll see the difference in no time.
Fact 5: Showering often is just for looing presentable and smelling good. When we shower regularly, we cleanse our bodies of all the dirt it was exposed to throughout the whole day, keeps the oil production low, kills the harmful bacteria, and rinses away all the dead skin cells. So they next time you want to skip a shower because you’re running late or don’t feel up to it, you might want to reconsider.
Fact 6: When we allow our bodies to get the sleep it needs, we allow our bodies to repair itself and detoxify overnight. When we sleep, skin uses this time to renew itself, giving us that well rested glow. If we keep hydrated and keep up the consistent sleep pattern of a healthy 8 hours, we’ll get to say good bye to dark circles and acne forever.
Fact 7: Exercising regularly is not only great for a healthy mind and body, but it does wonders for our skin too. It keeps our bodies fit, our stress levels low, and circulation better than ever, which means happy skin cells and a healthy blush. Our skin looks rested, supple, and clear.
Fact 8: For those who love wearing makeup, opt for products that are Oil-free, non-clogging, and hypoallergenic! Taking these steps will ensure clearer, more beautiful skin. And don’t forget to wipe them off and to wash your skin thoroughly before going to bed. Investing in oil-free makeup and good make up remover is a good move and your skin will thank you for it.
Fact 9: Using sunscreen with SPF 30 and above is great for shielding your skin from all the harmful sun rays. Not only does it prevent fine lines and wrinkles, it decreases our chances of contracting cancer cells or acne. SPF is our new best friend.
Fact 10: Tea tree oil is great for treating acne and other skin problems as it is an all-natural solution with anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help fight, shrink, and soothe our skin. It’s great for drying out pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads.
