Famous Reformed Porn Stars

Unlike other animals, human beings are accompanied by a conscience. It is with everybody functioning like a suspended magnet always pointing towards the right direction. The conscience does not dictate; its use is essentially optional. Reformation starts when one opts to follow one’s conscience. Pornography is the willful exhibition of sexual performances, mostly prompted and continued for money and rarely for self-satisfaction. Having accumulated some money, sooner or later the porn stars are fed up with the unfair means of earning and something within them, their conscience obviously, urges them to quit and try finding some fair means of an income. Sir Elton John said that the three most important words he uttered in his life were ‘I need help.’ One should never hesitate to seek help when needed to return to a clean start because it is never too late to mend. Reformation, in the Western society, is simply to revert to true Christianity. The quintessential of reformation is, however, to quit evil and go for what is good.

1. Anne Gale

Joe and Anne Gale

Anne Gale and her husband Joe had been involved in pornography and maintained a Website for this purpose. They, particularly Anne Gale, had been a successful porn star. After a change of heart, the couple made efforts to find some fair means of income. They offered home day care and foster care for children. After undergoing the usual checks, which did not show any criminal past history, they were granted the license for the purpose. In 2004 they shut down their former business and adopted two children. In 2005, the officials came to know of their adult porn business, and Rachel Voight, the mother of the children, demanded their custody. Itasca County District court gave the verdict in favor of Anne Gale who maintained that both the children, younger than four, have bonded with Gale’s family and, therefore, are best left there. A northern Minnesota court has given the verdict that Anne Gale still qualifies for the state license to offer child day care and foster care.

Penny Flame was born in 1993 and was raised in San Francisco as Jennifer Ketcham. In 2003 she entered adult entertainment and became a regular porn star in 2005. Confession is perhaps the first step towards reforming as it lightens the heart and soul allowing one to return to a clean slate. In 2009, she confessed about her alcohol and porn addiction deciding to get rid of both. The former porn star is now a painter, television presenter, and writer for the Huffington Post. She seems to have made the decision half-heartedly because while clad in formal attire she promotes her old performance and has no regrets for her past. They say, ‘Drink deep or touch not the Pierian spring.’ Half-hearted decisions lead to nowhere.

Not only was she reformed herself but also led others, including some porn stars like Patrick Nuo, to overcome the addiction. Lubben has written a book The Truth About Porn, and this has helped many to get rid of the addiction.  Patrick Nuo said on the TV show Jungle Camp, ‘Roxy has cured my porn addiction!’ Shelly said in response, ‘I’m so happy to hear I was able to help a life begin to heal from porn. It is only by the power of Jesus Christ that I am able to help anybody.”

Pastor Melissa Scott, formerly known as Barbie Bridge, was a well-known porn star in the1980s. After the death of her husband, Eugene Scott, an ordained minister, she converted to Christianity in 1995. As desired by the will of her husband, she became a member of Gene Scott’s Church. She became the administrative pastor for Faith Center Church in 1998. Having come to know of her past, some people were skeptical about her position, and a few even demanded her resignation. Most of the people are, however, of the opinion that she is an embodiment of the power of faith and redemption.

Conclusion:

Many reformed porn stars had to face difficulties listening to the satiric comments that the root cause of their change had been nothing else than their being unfit to continue. Many porn stars got out of the quagmire with great effort and failed to be on the Forbes list, though they succeeded in becoming good Christians. To seek refuge in religion is the best strategy in times of spiritual adversity just like the adversity of being involved in pornography.
