Hispanics are the largest, fastest growing minority in America with projected buying power from $ 1 trillion currently to $1.5 trillion in 2015. Hispanics spend more money on apparel, footwear, groceries and phone services while they spend less on alcohol, tobacco, health care, education, and personal insurance. The entertainment segment, including film industry is therefore more in need of attracting this group and Hispanic American Actresses have a very important role to play.

They like to spend their disposable income on looking good, perfumes and cosmetics. Famous Hispanic American Actresses inspire a large segment of society and in fact influence the buying trends. Currently there are 45.5 million Hispanics which are 15 % of the total population and according to US Census Bureau it will be doubled by 2050 as it is projected to reach 132.8 million by then.

Maria Guadalupe Villalobos Velez, commonly known as Lupez Velez was born to Jacobo Villalobos Reyes and Josefina Velez in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on July 18, 1908 and died in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, on December 14, 1944 at the age of only 36. Picked and promoted by Fanny Brice, Velez made her first appearance in films in 1924 and by early 1930s she was playing lead roles. Velez was one of the few Mexican actresses to succeed in Hollywood. Her life ended on a tragic note. In mid 40s she developed relationship with Harald Maresch and conceived his baby. Afraid of the shame, she was going to face on the illegitimate birth, she committed suicide. Her suicide note read, ‘To Harald: May God forgive you and forgive me, too, but I prefer to take my life away and our baby’s before I bring him with shame, or killin him’.
