New Mexico is often a place that people would like to know more information about. The capital of New Mexico is Santa Fe and it became officially a state in the United States on January 6, 1912. One of the most notable feats about New Mexico is that most of its residents are Hispanic Americans. There are also some Native Americans who are living in this state. Aside from the above mentioned information, there are still other things that you would have to know about the state of New Mexico

Fact 1: The place has been inhabited by Spain in the past and this is probably the reason why there are various wineries all over the place. Ancestors supposedly planted grape vines at the side of the Rio Grande which lead to various wineries right now. New Mexico has the oldest plantation of wine in the United States and some people visit just to see it.

Fact 2: The main reason why Spaniards were one of the first people who arrived in New Mexico is because they were searching for gold and glory. At the same time, they wanted to spread their beliefs and religion as well.

Fact 3: A lot of the inhabitants of New Mexico can speak Spanish. It is actually considered to be one of the main languages there.

Fact 4: Although there are a lot of states that are smaller than New Mexico, it is considered to be the 6thstate that has not been lived much by people. You can tell that there are significantly less people who are living here than in other states.

Fact 5: There have been some disputes in the past regarding borders and until where the location of New Mexico actually is. It can get pretty confusing considering the fact that it shares a border with Mexico as well as local borders with three other states.

Fact 6: A lot of people are crazy about chili burgers that can only be bought from this state. It has become so popular that they have created a map that will lead tourists to the best chili burgers available in New Mexico. Chili is not only put on burgers though. They are placed virtually everywhere. It is safe to say that residents of New Mexico love eating spicy food.

Fact 7: It was in July 1947 when a UFO saucer has been said to crash at New Mexico. There were some spectators and there were also some people who have sworn that they have seen bodies of aliens from the crashed UFO but the country has immediately started a damage control action meant to make people believe that there were no aliens after all.

Fact 8: Every year, a balloon festival is held in Albuquerque which is obviously considered to be the balloon capital of the world. Even though there are different balloon festivals all over the world, the one in this city is considered to be the biggest. This is the reason why it is not surprising that a lot of tourists visit the city during this time. The balloon festival happens in October while the weather still permits it. If it would be done in another month, it will not be perfect anymore.

Fact 9: The Loreto Chapel is considered to be one of the most prominent historical and even religious structures in the area because of the staircase that has been said to be made by St. Joseph himself. The reason why the stairs is such a wonder is because of the way it is slanted upward with no means of support. Under careful scrutiny, people were not able to find a trace of a nail or even glue that might have enabled the stairs to be put together. Its mysterious nature is surely something to marvel at.

Fact 10: There are a lot of people all over the different states of America who are considered to be achievers but you do not have to look for when you are already in New Mexico. According to studies, a lot of the PhD holders in America come from New Mexico. The reason for this is probably because of the types of job that are available in the area. People are required to have a degree and much more in order to get a good job.
