Fact 1 : Among the 50 states constituting the United States of America, Alaska is the largest of these states and was purchased from Russia for 7.2 million dollars in 1867.

Fact 2 : The USA has a population of 313,753,000 according to the 2012 estimates, which makes the average population density of 33.7/km2.

Fact 3 : The United States of America has the highest GDP in the world for a single country at $15 trillion.

Fact 4 : According to the IMF’s (2010-2011) estimates, the United States of America’s per capita income is ranked at 14th place.

Fact 5 : The total area of the United States of America is about 9,631,418 sq. km. of which 1,717,854 sq. km. is covered by Alaska alone. America is nearly half the size of Russia.

Fact 6 : The state of Alaska is about 429 times larger in land size than the state of Rhode Island, but the latter has a considerably larger population than the former which has a larger coastline than all of the other 49 states combined.

Fact 7 : The United States of America is ranked Number 4 in the Human Development Index (HDI) list by UNDP (United Nations Development Reports) with an HDI of 0.910 compared to Norway with an HDI of 0.943 which is ranked number one.

Fact 8 : The United States of America is a federal Constitutional republic and has approximately 17 percent female seats in Congress compared to the highest percentage in Rwanda at approximately 50 percent.

Fact 9 : There are 58 national parks in the United States of America and thousands of parks, forests, and wilderness areas which make approximately 33.2 percent of it covered by forests.

Fact 10 : The 50 stars in the flag of the United States of America represent the 50 states, and the 13 red and white stripes represent the 13 British colonies on the Atlantic coast of North America which declared independence from the Kingdom of Britain.
