Philippines is a country located in South East Asia. It has a total area of 300,000 squared km. 298,000 square km account for land and the rest for water. The climate is mostly tropical marine.

It has an economy that is partly protected by government regulation. This was effective in reducing the impact of the global economic crisis since due to conservative regulatory policies, investment in structured products was not allowed.

Philippines currency has had a revaluation in the last years as well as a high increase in the stock market index in the last years.

With 40% of the land dedicated to agriculture, the Philippines produce enough food for its population and for exporting.

Industry is rather versatile. It processes food, drinks, plastics, textiles, clothing, pharmaceutical drugs, paper, furniture, etc., etc. Its mining industry is also very big. The Philippines have copper, gold, silver, nickel, etc. and other mineral deposits.

The Philippines has a lot of relations with other Asian countries. This is evident in its membership with different nations such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), ASEAN plus Three, the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM), the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the East Asia Summit (EAS)

Although there was a lot of terrorist threatens in the 2010, today the Philippines is politically stabilized since in October of 2012, there was a peace agreement with rebel party that had been in fight for over 40 years. This peace agreement included the creation of an Islamic State on Mindanao. Overall, the country has a Risk rating of B.

The current president has done lots of efforts to improve the economy but corruption still persists amongst politicians.

The Philippines is a country in which typhoons are normal as well as other environment disasters such as the Tsunami which occurred a few months ago.
