Reptiles are most commonly known as cold-blooded animals for they live mostly in water rather than on land, but studies had proven that they are not really cold-blooded animals for their blood is warm just like any other mammal’s. They do not have the ability to regulate their body temperature, and that is why they have their own way of letting the heat out of their bodies.

Fact 1: There are an approximate 9,547 species of reptiles known all throughout the world.

Fact 2: There are numerous types of reptiles to be found in the world. For that reason, they are being classified in the categories of:  snakes, lizards, turtles, and tortoises, alligators, crocodiles, and tuataras.

Fact 3: Most of the reptiles are known to be meat-eating creatures or carnivores. Only some of them are known to be plant-eating creatures.

Fact 4: The reptiles do not have the ability to breathe underwater for they are breathing through their lungs just like mammals. They need to be on the land’s surface for them to have air and breathe.

Fact 5: The dinosaurs are classified as reptiles. They were known to inhabit the Earth more than 3000 years ago.

Fact 6: The Black Mamba is known to be the fastest and deadliest kind of snake that is popular throughout the globe.

Fact 7: Komodo Dragons are the kind of lizard which are the heaviest and deadliest in the world, and they have the ability to move very quickly, climb trees, swim, and have a very good sense of smell.

Fact 8: People know that turtles have their own ability of putting their head and feet inside their shells. But for the sea turtles, they are the exception to the rule since they cannot do that.

Fact 9: Crocodiles cannot make their tongues stick out.

Fact 10: Tuataras have good eyesight as well as elongated tails, but they do not have ears. Their body temperature varies according to the place where they are staying.
