Ed Sheeran or Edward Christopher Sheeran is one of the singing sensations of today. He is a born artist and being a song-writer as well, his melodious voice touches every heart.

Fact 1 Early Life

Ed Sheeran was born on February 17, 1991, in Halifax, West Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom. He spent his childhood days in the town of Framlingham in Suffolk. He attended Thomas Mills School in Framlingham. Ed’s elder brother Matthew is a classical music composer. From an early age he showed signs of a talented musician and started playing the guitar on his own. Gradually he started writing his own songs. It has been heard that Damien Rice, the singer-songwriter was his first inspiration. He met him at the backstage of one of his shows when he was only eleven years old. There Rice told him to compose his own music and Ed Sheeran started off on a new journey the very next day.

Edward moved to London when he was just 16 years to fulfill his dreams of being a singer and composer who will rock the world with his passionate music in 2008. His talents soon made way to the stage and he started performing in hundreds of live shows and several early EPs in 2009. He gained the attention of millions of music lovers by his outpouring creativity through his online performances. Sheeran became the topper on the iTunes chart. He then signed up with Atlantic and millions of his records were sold. One of his songs appears in the second part of The Hobbit trilogy.

Fact 3 His Releases

When in London, he quickly released two albums namely a self-titled record The Orange Room in 2005, Ed Sheeran in 2006 and in 2007 Want Some? He established other acts as well such as Nizlopi, Jay Sean and the Noisettes. In 2009 he released another EP entitled You Need Me and Loose Change in 2010. This year he was seen performing in more than three hundred live shows. His career took a bigger leap in 2010 through the online media. He posted an online video that attracted one of the famous rappers of today, Example. He called Sheeran and asked him to go along with him as his opening act. This increased his popularity all the more and his online fan list grew even longer. He filled in three more new EPs in 2010.

Fact 4 The Next Years In The Life Of Ed Sheeran

When he went to the U.S. Ed found a new admirer in Jamie Foxx. He asked him to appear on his radio show Sirius. In January 2011, Sheeran released another EP, and this was his last release as an independent artist. Here were advertisements or any kind of promotion regarding this new release. But it reached the second position on the iTunes chart and then he signed up with Atlantic Records in January 2011 only. One of the greatest hits with Atlantic was his debut studio album, +. More than a million copies of this album was sold within the first six months of its release in U.K Ed Sheeran has been nominated for the Best New Artist for Grammy Awards for his songs “I See Fire” and “The A-Team”. The song “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” won the Q Award for “Best Single” in 2011 and also as the “Breakthrough Artist” in the same year (2011). He then started writing together with the senior and famous artists like One Direction and Taylor Swift. His song “I See Fire” featured in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug released in Jun e 2014 was one of the greatest hits. His next album, x, appeared and became the No. 1 in U.K. and the U.S.A.
