Fact 1: The most common and extensively used drug in the world is alcohol. The number of deaths per year in the United States related to alcohol is above 100,000.

Fact 2: The drinkable form of alcohol is ethyl alcohol which is considered as powerful and addictive. Alcohol is a depressant of the central nervous system that can be manufactured when yeast cells act on carbohydrates present in fruits and grains.

Fact 3:  Alcohol is addictive and has a powerful effect on human behavior. There are three types of alcoholic drinks available. They are; wine, beer, and liquor.

Fact 4: The fermented grains are used for synthesizing beer which has about three to six percent of alcoholic content. The fermented fruits are the source for wine which has an alcoholic content of 11 to 14 percent.

Fact 5: Fortified wines have alcohol mixed in them, and they will possess an alcohol content of 18 to 20 percent.

Fact 6: Liquor is prepared by the distillation of the fermented product, and it has an alcohol content of 40 to 50 percent. The content of alcohol in the liquor is measured as the degrees of proof, and the measurement is two times as high as the percentage.

Fact 7: Alcohol acts on the nerve cells that are present deep in the brain. Alcohol acts as a depressant which induces feelings of relaxation and decreases anxiety.

Fact 8: Consuming two or three drinks in one hour will cause impairment of judgment, induces euphoria, and lowers inhibitions.

Fact 9: The major symptoms of alcohol use are: irritability, loss of consciousness, depression, loss of balance, loss of physical coordination, and impaired short-term memory.

Fact 10: Alcohol abuse causes neurological dangers, cardiological problems, respiratory, liver, gastrointestinal, and psychological problems.

Fact 11: Alcohol consumption by pregnant women leads to problems for newborns, such as: low birth weight, increased infection possibilities, difficulty in feeding, and long-term developmental problems.
