The government is right for once! Cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health, and it doesn’t stop there. From second hand smoke to third hand smoke, the entire foundation of a deadly industry has gotten a firm grip on the lives of old and young alike, and the end results for the purchasing party is never pretty.

Second hand smoke, also known as passive smoking, is the inhalation of the toxins released by cigarette smoke other than the person actively smoking. This unfortunate event often results in the declining health of those exposed to it; from lung conditions, cancer types, skin diseases, and mental disorders. And it takes a toll on the physical too. Those exposed often become more sluggish, dull, and susceptible to infections.  A large percentage of those who die from second hand smoke are known to be adults, but the toll for children’s deaths are rising by the numbers. In order to avoid contracting this illness, it’s very simple. Avoid being around those who smoke. Not to say you drop your friends like a hot potato, but when they whip out those lighters and sticks, it’s time for you to leave or ask them to take it somewhere they won’t be inconveniencing others.  Fact 1: Tragic, truly. There are roughly 126 million people in the U.S who are exposed to secondhand smoke at work and home environments. Passive smoking has a caused about 50,000 deaths in nonsmoking adult Americans every year.

Fact 2: Our children are the most wrongly exposed. Toddles are often affected by passive smoking exposure at home. About 150,000 – 300,000 kids under 18 months of age who experience bronchitis, pneumonia, or other unsavory respiratory infections from passive smoking exposure — which constitutes to about 7,500 – 15,000, need to be hospitalized to receive proper care and treatment. Not cool.

Fact 3: Second Hand Smoking is just as damaging as smoking is, and may lead to cancer, respiratory disease, and a shorter lifespan, and in most cases, hearing loss mostly found in Adults.

Fact 4: Every cigarette stick lit and smoked is equivalent to 4 minutes of your life knocked off. Heed the warning. Cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health.

Fact 5: There are about 4,000 unfriendly chemicals that are found in tobacco smoke, and 50 of them have been known to be serious chemical properties that eventually cause varying types of cancer. Some common chemical compounds that are inhaled from second-hand smoke may include: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Benzene; which is one of major components that can be found in gasoline, Formaldehyde, and Hydrogen Cyanide! A highly poisonous gas often used for pest control and even more so for chemical weapons.

Fact 6: Second hand smoke may come from a cigarette, cigar, or pipe. Tobacco smoke has more than 4,000 chemical compounds in it, and at least 250 are known to cause harmful disease.

Fact 7: With regards to Cognitive impairment and dementia, the exposure to secondhand smoke can increase the risk of cognitive impairment and dementia in adults 50 years of age and over.

Fact 8: Alarming cases of tooth decay have been found in children who have been exposed to second hand smoking.

Fact 9: The tell-tale sign of a smoker is usually someone who is often out of breathe when exerting effort even in non-strenuous activities, thin, blackened lips, sullen eyes, dull skin, and yellowed teeth that start to manifest themselves in the following years to come.

Fact 10: There has been a clinic discovered to have had its ceiling painted in a grave manner (pun intended). It was meant to look like you were smoking in your own grave, as a priest and your assumed loved ones gathered at your casket. Points for creativity.
